Juan Antonio Ducruet appointed as new director of Idaan

The President of the Republic of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo appointed Juan Antonio Ducruet as the new General Director of the National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (Idaan), replacing engineer Guillermo Torres Díaz, who presented his resignation from the position on January 15.
Upon the departure of Guillermo Torres, on January 20, Engineer Luz Amalia González, deputy director of the institution, assumed the direction of Idaan on an interim basis while the candidates for the position were held.

"The selection was made when the rigorous procedures for the selection process of the new director were completed by the Idaan Board of Directors, as established in Law 77 of December 28, 2001 that reorganizes and modernizes the Idaan and dictates other provisions”, says a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.

Among the main commitments that Ducruet assumes are to give continuity to the plans for the provision of drinking water services, and the disposal of sewage, ensuring the conservation of the environment, with a view to achieving optimal levels of productivity and efficiency.

Profile of Juan Ducruet

Ducruet was vice minister of the Cortizo administration presidency and since August 2019 he was appointed as the main representative of the Executive Branch on the Idaan board of directors and he was also on the Metro Board of Directors and to date in the Presidency of the Board of Directors of Tocumen SA.

He stands out in specialties in Strategic Planning and Process Reengineering; Infrastructure, Services and Industry Project Management; Managerial Management in Construction and Agricultural Equipment Trading companies; Management of Services, Construction, Agricultural and Industrial Equipment; Technical Training and Consulting in Business and Project Management among others.

He is an Industrial Maintenance Engineer from the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, he also has a Master's Degree in Plant Engineering from the Technological University of Panama, a Post Graduate Plant Engineering also from the Technology of Panama and has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from INCAE.
