High ultraviolet radiation levels warned until February 19
The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) issued a surveillance notice on Tuesday due to the high levels of solar and ultraviolet (UV) radiation that will be registered in different sectors of the country until next Friday, February 19, 2021.
It details that according to data from the Electric Transmission Company, in some regions the indices will reach extremes of up to # 13.
In this sense, it indicates that in the regions of Bocas del Toro, the Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, Veraguas Norte and Costa Abajo de Colón, the ultraviolet radiation indices will be very high, from 8 to 10.
The notice adds that in the Costa Arriba of Colón, the Guna Yala region, Panama, Panama Oeste, Coclé, Herrera, Los Santos, Chiriquí and the country's maritime sectors, extreme radiation indices of 11 or more will be registered.
Given this, the population is recommended to stay hydrated, use sunscreen #30 or more every two hours, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or being uncovered, use wide caps or hats, dark glasses, look for shady areas, use umbrellas and cloth clothing gross.
