The National Civil Protection System of Panama ( Sinaproc ) issued a warning of prevention due to the displacement of Tropical Wave No. 26 over Panama in the coming days, which will generate periods with possible heavy rains and storms.
The entity warns that this condition could increase probable accumulated by rains from 10 to 50 MM or liters of water per square meter in the low and coastal areas; and in mountainous regions and mountain ranges with the possibility of higher amounts.
Sinaproc indicated that as of August 12, 2021, greater rainfall and storms are expected in Panama due to the collateral effects that the possible passage of Tropical Storm Fred will cause over Cuba and Hispaniola Island, indicated the Hydrometeorology management of the Company of Transmission Eléctrica SA (Etesa).
They recommend that the population follow the rules of the authorities and rescuers in general:
- To be pending in the updates of the notices and meteorological bulletins that the Direction of Hydrometeorology emits of the states of the weather.
- If it is raining, avoid driving at high speeds.
- Have an emergency backpack handy.
- Doors and windows should be secured at home.
