Hades and Heracles operations leave more than 20 apprehended in the capital and West Panama
The people apprehended are linked to organized crime or belong to gangs that operate in Boca La Caja and Panama Oeste.
Two operations in conjunction with the Superior Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Crimes of Illicit Association, were carried out this Wednesday, in the provinces of Panama and Panama Oeste.
Units of the Directorate of Judicial Investigation and the National Police carried out more than 50 raids in residences in the Boca La Caja sector, San Francisco district and other points of the province of West Panama , achieving the apprehension of 23 people, linked to organized crime belonging to the gang "Bagdad" and "The Mongols".
In addition, the confiscation of money of doubtful origin, firearms without regulation and alleged drugs.
Nahaniel Murgas, superior anti-gang prosecutor, indicated in Boca La Caja, through the operation “Heracles”, more than 12 alleged members of a gang with territorial control in this sector were apprehended.
This is an investigation that began in 2018 and since then several individuals who are part of this criminal group have been apprehended.
This gang, according to Murgas, is allied to the Baghdad criminal gang.
In another operation called “Hades”, the Superior Prosecutor's Office Against Organized Crime arrested 8 people for crimes against organized crime, in a diligence carried out in Boca La Caja and in the province of Panamá Oeste.
The 26 detainees (25 men and 1 woman), in both operations, will be placed under the orders of a Judge of Guarantees in the next few hours to be charged and establish precautionary measures.
