On Tuesday afternoon a fire was registered in one of the buildings of the Comprehensive Training and Training Academy of the Institutional Protection Service ( SPI ) located in Corozal.

The incident began after 2:45 pm on July 20, 2021, in the upper part of one of the cadets' dormitory buildings.

Major Ángel Delgado of the Meritorious Fire Department of Panama reported that no members of the SPI have been injured by this incident.

Delgado in RPC Radio reported that "they are in the primary search for people who could be in the building, avoid any risk, and once it is declared a safe area we will have indications that allow defining the causes.

He reiterated that they are in the stage of counting the personnel that is for the corresponding registry.

The causes of this incident are still unknown and at the moment there are no reports of people injured or affected by smoke inhalation.
