The secretary of Fenasep, Alejandro Haynes points out that the Minsa should reinforce vaccination campaigns so that Panamanians understand their importance.
The secretary of the National Federation of Public Servants of Panama ( Fenasep ), Alejandro Haynes told RPC Radio that the statements of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, in which he warned officials about the obligation to be vaccinated against
COVID-19, are illegal.
Haynes indicated that the right of people to get vaccinated is relative to the person.
"It is important to get vaccinated, but the fact that the president again makes those kinds of decisions of wanting to sanction is illegal ... he has already done it on other occasions, he has done these rudeness, but when the personnel close to him commit the faults then it doesn't act," Haynes said.
The secretary's statements come after the president warned officials to get vaccinated and also analyzed the possibility of sending those who had not yet been immunized and were working for the state to leave without pay.
The secretary added that it would be good if the Ministry of Health (
Minsa) strengthened through a massive campaign on vaccination so that everyone understands its importance.
"It is irresponsible on the part of the people, not just public officials, everyone should get vaccinated ... they cannot take the issue of
COVID-19 lightly," Haynes emphasized.
Finally, the Fenasep representative indicated that as a group they would be willing to join the
Minsa in the vaccination campaign to encourage Panamanians to protect themselves against
COVID-19.
