Etesa predicts that rainy events will increase in the next few hours
Etesa's warning extends until August 27 and vigilance is maintained against the possible formation of a cyclone.
The Department of Hydrometeorology of Etesa Panama reported this afternoon on the worsening of the rainy events and storms expected in the country, for which they issued a precautionary notice.
The areas under warning are: Guna Yala, Colón, Ngäbe-Buglé, Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, Veraguas, Herrera, Los Santos, Coclé, Panamá Oeste, Panamá, Darién and the Comarca Emberá-Wounaan.
According to the forecast of the meteorologist Emanuel Velásquez, the Intertropical Convergence zone and the Low Pressure System are expected to be positioned in the north of the country, in the southwestern Caribbean Sea (with monitoring of possible tropical cyclone formation and probability of 0% in 48 hours and 60% in the next 5 days) allowing the incursion, in addition to the acceleration of the southern component winds, contributed greater humidity from the Pacific Ocean and increasing instability and rains in the national territory, in addition to the incursion of a tropical wave ( # 31).
Increased rainfall could cause:
- Amounts of 25 to 50 mm are expected on the Pacific slope, Bocas del Toro and Colón on August 24.
- Amounts of so to 150 mm are expected for August 25, mainly on the Pacific slope and from Bocas del Toro to Colón.
- Amounts of 25 to 100 mm are expected for August 26 and 27 throughout the country.
