Driver's licenses and expired license plate validity extended
In accordance with the mitigation measures adopted by the National Government as a result of the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), the Transit and Land Transportation Authority (ATTT) announced on Wednesday the extension of several measures.
The extension of validity of all driver's licenses with an expiration date in the months of March, April, May, June, July, August and September, will be extended until September 30, 2020.
Likewise, the provisional suspension of the application of the sanction for contempt, established in Article 240 of Executive Decree 640 of 2006 (Traffic Regulations), will be extended until September 30, in order to avoid inconveniences that the retention of the license or vehicle at this time.
Similarly, the ATTT reported on the extension until September 30, the suspension of the application of the violation for circulating with an expired license plate, contained in numeral 11 of Article 241 of Executive Decree 640 of 2006, this considering the difficulties that It implies for the users the procedures of renewal of plates.
This measure applies to vehicles with license plates, with expiration dates in the months of June, July, August and September.
It clarifies that the plates from previous months are available for withdrawal by taxpayers.
