On Thursday August 6, Dr. Lourdes Moreno, Chief of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Health (Minsa) of Panama, suffered a relapse in her health condition, and she was admitted to the Santo Tomás Hospital where she remains stable.
Moreno had suffered health problems in recent days, she even was tested for
COVID-19 after presenting a respiratory condition, however the result was negative.
As explained by the specialist on July 31, despite the negative result, colleagues from the Santo Tomás Hospital, where she was also treated on that occasion, decided to treat her as a
COVID-19 patient, given that she had virus symptoms, as well as glass grinding on the left lung, which is a pathognomonic lesion, also appearing to people who have
COVID-19.
Since the first cases of
COVID-19 were confirmed in Panama, Dr. Lourdes Moreno has led the reports on updating the figures and actions for the prevention of the virus.
