The director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Enrique Lau reported that, through the strategy to improve capacity in health facilities in the face of the increase in cases of covid-19, they expect to have 1,636 additional beds by January.
The pandemic in our country is progressing worse, it is hitting the whole world and we are not an exception, we are having more and more cases, more patients in hospitals, more people in intensive care and more people are dying, Lau said.
Lau explained that the process of adapting 100 beds in the regional hospital of David, 40 in Puerto Armuelles, 15 in Ezequiel Abadía, 100 in the Horacio Díaz Gómez polyclinic, 40 in the Rafael Estévez de Aguadulce hospital, 100 in Santiago Barraza, 96 at Colón Hospital, 50 at Chepo Hospital, 250 at Roberto Kelly Sports Center, 400 at the Convention Center, and 300 at the City of Health.
This effort is useless if we do not have a change of attitude because these beds, in the face of the increase in cases, will be totally insufficient, warned the director of the CSS.
The Ministry of Health (
Minsa) reported that given the critical situation in hospital capacity due to the increase in
covid-19 cases, the number of beds in hospitals and medical facilities is increasing.
