The effective reproduction number of COVID-19 or Rt in Panama has shown in week number 7 of the epidemiological report a slight decrease to 0.82; since last week it was at 0.83.
Dr. Leonardo Labrador, national chief of epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (
Minsa ), stated that in Panama the regions of Darién, Bocas del Toro and the Ngäbe Buglé Region are still above 1 in the Rt.
The age with the most deaths is 80 years and over; and the male sex is the one with the highest percentage of mortality. While the lethality of the virus remains at 1.7%.
Dr. Labrador pointed out that the townships that present more than 10 active cases in the country are: David, David Sur, Chiriquí, Río Hato, Vista Alegre, Curundú, La Villa de Los Santos, Arraiján, Barrio Balboa, El Coco de Panamá West.
