Cortizo: Panama has completed Phase 4 of vaccination against COVID-19

In Panama, 5,216,163 doses have been applied against COVID-19. Of this total 740,455 are from AstraZeneca and 4,475,708 are from Pfizer.
The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, announced this Monday that Panama has completed Phase 4 of the Vaccination Plan against COVID-19.

“Our country has completed phase 4 of vaccination! Everything that we have advanced, the first positions in vaccination both in the region and in the world, have been possible thanks to the organization and disciplined work of a great team called PANAMA ”, the president highlighted through his Twitter account.

According to the latest data published by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) as part of the vaccination process, 5,216,163 doses against COVID-19 have been applied in Panama.

Of this total, 740,455 correspond to the doses developed by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, while 4,475,708 are from the formula developed by Pfizer / BioNTech.

It is worth mentioning that the Vaccination Plan against COVID-19, established by the Minsa, was divided into 4 Phases:

In Phase 1, priority was given to health personnel in the first line of battle at the national level and to the security forces.

In Phase 2, the priority was adults over 60 years of age, people with disabilities, and patients between the ages of 16 and 59 with chronic diseases.

However, other non-priority groups were vaccinated without having completed the vaccination of older adults in the country, such as the case of teachers and administrators of schools and universities, under the premise of returning blended to classrooms.

In Phase 3, Stage 3A: Population of the regions and areas of difficult access. Stage 3B: Population in risk occupations such as airport, Customs and Immigration. Drivers of public transport and cargo, and deprived of liberty.

And in Phase 4, population between 16 and 59 years of age without chronic diseases. General population.

On the other hand, President Cortizo reiterated that starting this Wednesday, September 15, the first dose of Pfizer per sweep will be applied to the general population from 12 years of age in the following circuits: 12-1 and 8-9.

In addition, sweeping will be carried out for the application of the second dose in the circuits: 2-1, 4-1, 6-2, 6-3, 8-2, 8-3, 8-7, 8-8 Río Abajo, Parque Lefevre and Don Bosco, 9-2 and 9-4.
