Cortizo clarifies use of beaches; decree remains unchanged
President Laurentino Cortizo clarified during a tour of Veraguas about the use of beaches in the country, however at the time of writing this information the decree published in the Official Gazette remained unchanged.
Cortizo explained that in the provinces of Veraguas, Coclé and Los Santos they can only attend the beaches from Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
While on Saturdays and Sundays of total quarantine in those provinces, mobilization and access to beaches and rivers is prohibited.
However, last Thursday, Executive Decree No. 62 was published in the Official Gazette, which established in Article No. 14 that beaches and rivers could be used and did not specify the prohibitions for any province.
For this reason, on the morning of this Friday it was reported that an error report would be made in the Official Gazette to clarify the use of beaches and rivers.
The president explained that that the province of Herrera is in total quarantine every day of the week, being prohibited the mobilization and access to beaches and rivers.
While Panama and Panama Oeste will be governed by the gradual reopening plan, therefore "you will not be able to attend beaches, rivers and spas on any day of the week, until the corresponding date."
In Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí and Colón they will be able to mobilize and use their beaches every day from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, but without the consumption of liquor, Cortizo said.
Cortizo said that these measures are taken by region because they are applied depending on the social behavior of the people who live there.
