Residents of the province of Veraguas reported that these people continued to go out to stores and supermarkets despite being infected with COVID-19.
More than 40 employees of a swine company in Veraguas tested positive for
COVID-19. Residents of the town of Canto del Llano, in the province of Veraguas, denounced that despite the contagion they continued to go out to stores and supermarkets.
The Ministry of Health (
Minsa) of Panama initiated an investigation into this case, where it was also learned that this company allegedly did not comply with biosafety measures.
During inspections at the site, health authorities determined that the necessary standards were not maintained to prevent the spread of
COVID-19.
For their part, the Departments of Food Protection and Environmental Protection hold a meeting to determine what measures will be taken to mitigate the spread in the communities.
To date, more than 200 people from the Canto del Llano district are in confinement. As a social assistance measure, the Community Board makes a tour of the residences and delivers bags of food.
