What seem all to clear is that the parties, Russia, Ukraine, and NATO, are on a collision course with no easy solution in sight. It is not beyond the realm of possibility to conjure up an ending when Ukraine ceases to exist as a country, all of its present territory is laid waste and its population dispersed AGAIN to Europe, North America and Russia, Russia and the West perpetuate their respective accusations against the other as to who is to be blamed for the war and the parties "settle" for inertia. Mapmakers will be left to speculate what color(s) to use to demarcate this sorrowful place. that must now share its fate with lost cultures of former glory, Armenia, the Kurdish "nation", etc. So sad!

so, since this, that Crimean election was held, and 97% voted to join Russia, so it was done.

In the meantime, simple people die because of nasty politics.
