COEL denounces interruption in international logistics connectivity due to checkpoints
They explain that checkpoints interrupt logistics connectivity, increase costs, cause delay and deteriorate the country's Logistics Hub.
The Board of Directors of the Logistics Business Council (COEL) asked the authorities to analyze the adverse impact on the flow of the supply chain generated by checkpoints.
"Delays or interruptions in the vehicular flow through the Inter-American highway, through which a large quantity of merchandise travels to and from the interior of the country and Central America, are of great concern ... they interrupt logistics connectivity, increase costs, cause delay and deteriorate our Logistics Hub," specified the entrepreneurs.
They stressed that the Inter-American highway, "being the main one in the country, must be maintained without obstacles or checkpoints that affect the flow of traffic of people and goods."
This arises after that last Friday, August 6, there was a great traffic congestion on this road, which lasted for hours, affecting the traffic of passenger and cargo vehicles, due to a landslide, in addition to the traffic generated by a health checkpoint or checkpoint located in the Capira district, where the police imposed sanctions on the drivers and passengers of the vehicles already delayed by the landslide.
