The National Police and the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System of Panama reported this Friday, July 30, on the discovery of a vehicle on the premises of the Nueva Esperanza Penitentiary in the province of Colón with packages of alleged drugs, cigarettes, cell phones and other items.
The authorities in a coordination work located the vehicle after observing the suspicious attitude of the car in the video surveillance cameras and after a sweep they confiscated and confiscated it along with the articles that it had inside.
Among the seized, according to Commissioner Aristides Ramos, chief in charge of external security at the Nueva Esperanza Penitentiary Center, there were 21 packages of herb that is presumed to be drugs, 7 packages of white powder that are presumed to be drugs, 1,277 packs of cigarettes, 8 Philis packs, 95 lighters, 10 cell phones, 2 cell phone chips, 2 full chargers, 2 full headphones and a digital signal blanket.
It is believed that these supplies were intended to be brought into the prison, so the confiscated was placed at the orders of the competent authorities so that the investigations could begin.
Until now, the police report does not mention of people detained after this seizure.
