Christiansen announces 30 players for Panama national soccer team for World Cup qualifying games

Thomas Christiansen, coach of the Panama national team, already has 30 players to face the next World Cup qualifying matches.

Thomas Christiansen presented a squad list for the Panama national team that includes six players who play in the Panamanian Football League (LPF) and 24 who play abroad.

The Danish coach communicated his decision to the players on Sunday night, after the fourth training session of the national preselection on the field of the Luis Ernesto “Cascarita” Tapia stadium.

The Panama national team is preparing to face Anguilla, this Saturday, June 5, and the Dominican Republic, this Tuesday, June 8, in two games to be played at the Rod Carew National Stadium by group D of the first round of qualifying rounds of the Concacaf.

Rodríguez case

Of those summoned, it was reported that José Luis Rodríguez will have an MRI at the wheel once he arrives in Panama to find out whether or not he can be with the Panamanian team for the qualifying rounds.

Rodríguez has already finished his season in the Spanish second division with Lugo, after playing the last match against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Rodríguez is expected to arrive in Panama this Monday afternoon.

If unavailable, manager Thomas Christiansen announced that he will include Herrera FC midfielder Juan González in his place.

For the moment, González will continue training with the group until the result of Rodríguez's physical evaluation by the FEPAFUT medical team is known.

Arrival of players

Of the summoned players who are yet to arrive, Adalberto Carrasquilla, from FC Cartagena in Spain, lands on Panamanian soil this Monday night.

Forward Cecilio Waterman, from Everton de Chile, arrives in Panama on Tuesday, June 1 in the afternoon.

In the case of Eduardo Guerrero, the forward received authorization from the coach to join the team on Thursday, June 3, after playing the final of the Israel Cup with his team, Maccabi Tel Aviv this Wednesday, June 2 against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Same case as Édgar Yoel Bárcenas, who also received the green light from Christiansen to travel to Panama, after playing the first leg of the playoff semifinals for promotion to the Spanish League with his team Girona, also scheduled for this Wednesday June 2 against Almería.
