The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, held a meeting with senior leaders of the security forces at C5 located at the PN headquarters in Ancón.
"As head of the Public Force, I began the transition process of the new commanders of the National Police. We bid farewell to Panamanians who have served the country and we welcome those who with honor and commitment take on the new challenge", Cortizo reported through the social network Twitter.
Medina was appointed by President Cortizo in that position to replace Jorge Miranda.
The new director of the PN has 28 years of service in that entity, has a degree in Law and Political Science and a master's degree in Security and Defense.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Rafael de Jesús Álvarez Guardado was appointed as deputy general director.
