The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) reiterated this Sunday to the Government to promote tourism, creating the conditions that allow companies in the sector to plan and prepare in the midst of covid-19.
The union insists on the total opening of national parks, trails and beaches, on weekends as a tourist recovery strategy, considering that, according to experts, the risk of contagion of
covid-19 outdoors is very low.
They also encouraged the authorities to take the corresponding measures such as
Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico, which adapted their country's tourism to the current reality.
"As the main tourist target markets begin to vaccinate their population, these people will be resuming their trips, looking for destinations that are ready to receive them with the pertinent biosecurity measures," they say.
The
CCIAP highlights that it is necessary for the Panama Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR) to have the necessary budget and implement it to fulfill its objective of presenting and advertising the country as an attractive tourist destination at an international level.
They also demand that adjustments be made in expenses such as the state payroll, with respect to officials who are not on the battlefront, and not sacrifice in investments, such as tourism promotion, which provide accurate returns to the country.
