The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) issued a warning this Sunday, January 31, in its statement: "Panama and its people cannot endure one more closure".
The serious economic crisis that we are experiencing is the result of the forced closure of our companies and the establishment of restrictive measures of freedom with serious consequences that arise when the State does not have checks or balances, much less harmonious collaboration to manage in an orderly manner the public issues, said the
CCIAP statement.
The union said that the public sector is still in debt to be supportive and urged a reduction in public spending according to income, especially the reduction of the working day for officials who are not in the first line of defense against
covid-19.
Having already, for months, a firm understanding of the sanitary measures necessary to prevent the spread of the virus, it is a total disregard that, from the comfort and privilege that represents the use of the state payroll, members of the sector are prevented private support their families and pay the salary to their employees for more than 10 months, when they develop it in a responsible manner and implementing all the necessary sanitary measures, the statement said.
The
CCIAP also criticized the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) for not yet resolving the issues presented with respect to citizen rights and the State of Emergency.
