Bocas del Toro and the Pearls Islands continue to see large drug busts

The Minister of Public Security of Panama (Minseg), Juan Pino announced that 50,987 drug packages have been seized through the country's security forces so far in 2020 in 328 anti-narcotics operations carried out nationwide.
The head of this ministry emphasized that the archipelago of Bocas del Toro, in the Caribbean, continues to be the scene of large seizures of illicit substances; while in the Pacific, the Archipelago of Las Perlas (Pearl Islands), due to its proximity to the Panamanian and Colombian coasts, has also been the focus of large catches.

The Minseg report indicates that in actions carried out from October 1 to 11, 22 successful operations in the fight against drugs were reported, which resulted in the seizure of 4,334 packages of alleged illicit substance and the apprehension of 31 people red-handed; 8 Colombians and 23 Panamanians.
