Authorities find drugs attached to a cat in attempt to smuggle the drugs to prison

The authorities of the Nueva Esperanza penitentiary, province of Colón, detected alleged illicit substances on the neck of a cat, which was used to smuggle the drugs into the prison.
According to Andrés Gutiérrez, Director General of the Penitentiary System of Panama, thanks to the expertise of the guards and police of this penal center, this attempt was thwarted.

"The animal had a cloth tied around the neck that kept two wrapping of white cloth that keeps plant material inside, four wrapping lined with transparent white powder plastic and another with feeling sheets," Gutiérrez stressed.

The substance will be placed at the orders of the Colón and Kuna Yala Deputy Drug Prosecutor's Office for the corresponding procedures.

This new modality has surprised the authorities, which on previous occasions have detected illicit substances in food, drones and even clothing parcels that have tried to be entered in the different prisons of the country.
