The administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama ( ATP ), Iván Eskildsen made public this Monday, August 23, that he received the Panama Convention Center, through the Substantial Receipt of Works.

This center is received after almost 9 years of work, all of 2020 with construction stopped, due to a subcontractor that prevented receiving the work since April.

In addition, Eskildsen stressed that after the reception of the building, they will start the start-up of the operation with the company SMG, the world's largest operator of public buildings (conventions, stadiums, etc.), which has been hired by the ATP to attract international events , attracting foreign exchange and contributing to the economic reactivation.

"Having this building places us in a very competitive position in our air connectivity, infrastructure, Latin America and natural and cultural attractions," said Eskildsen.

This morning the ATP administrator made the tour accompanied by leaders of tourist associations, since, according to the administrator, the private sector will be activated in attracting events.

Eskildsen pointed out that the convention center has all the necessary guarantees to start its operation.

It should be noted that this center, located at the beginning of the Amador Causeway, or Causeway, is valued at 207 million, has more than 33,500 m2 of highly flexible functional space, the facilities cover three areas within the enclosure and are designed to be configured to meet the needs of any event you can imagine, plus it has over 1,500 parking spaces for your use.
