The Panama Solidario food bags, which should be delivered to families affected by the pandemic, were in a private residence in San Francisco.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor of the Public Ministry of Panama ordered the arrest of three officials linked to the case of food bags of the Plan Panama Solidario.
The order was issued for the alleged commission of a crime against the Public Administration.
The investigations into this case began ex-officio on June 12, 2021, after the discovery of 509 bags of food in a residence located in the San Francisco district.
These bags were returned to the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) after proving that they were indeed products of the Panama Solidario social assistance program.
These are bags of food that should be given to families affected economically due to the pandemic and to patients with
COVID-19 during their home isolation.
Due to this fact, engineer Julio Caballero submitted his resignation from the position he held at the Public Ministry of Panama (MOP).
According to the MOP, the resignation, which was accepted, was presented by Caballero “to ensure a transparent investigation of the events that occurred yesterday related to food bags from the Panama Solidario Plan, which was made public through social networks and media".
