Asciende la cifra de contagios de COVID-19 en Panamá

627 new cases of Covid-19 are reported; in the last 24 hours there were 8 deaths

The cases of COVID-19 in Panama continue to increase, in 24 hours Panama registered 627 new cases, bringing the total number of infected to 20,686, according to the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, 8 new deaths were reported, increasing to the number of deaths from this virus to 437 in the country, which represents a case fatality rate of 2.14%.

There are 6,483 active cases and 13,766 clinically recovered patients.

According to the epidemiological report, 5,961 of the active patients are in home isolation (804 are confined in hotels), while another 522 are hospitalized (420 in the ward, 102 in intensive care).

According to the age group, patients between the ages of 20 to 59 years continue to be the most affected in terms of infection, however, most deaths correspond to those over 60 years of age, with more than 300 deaths.

Since the first case of coronavirus was reported in the country, a total of 91,637 COVID-19 tests have been performed, of which 68,280 have been negative.

The Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, indicated that 79% of the tests carried out correspond to the provinces of Panama and Panama West.

Turner reported that convalescent plasma treatment therapy will be used in the country.
