4 catch COVID19 at a birthday party in Veraguas; local authorities and Minsa officials participated

Four people from the same family in Santa Fe de Veraguas test positive for coronavirus, reported the regional director of the Ministry of Health, Ovidio Mendoza.
They caught the virus during a birthday party in the community of Veracruz. "We have information that local authorities participated in the activity and unfortunately officials from the Ministry of Health were involved in this activity," said Mendoza.

The official explained that they opened the investigation to "demarcate responsibilities" and impose the corresponding sanctions.

He announced that there was also an agent of the National Police present.

"The population ignores [the health measures], and they are gathering for family events," Mendoza added.

He said that they proceeded to carry out traceability in the area since "people from the community" also attended the event.

The Santa Fe district had few Covid-19 cases so far. "With this event, they are going to have new cases, and they will probably keep Covid-19 in their community due to irresponsibility," Mendoza told Original Stereo radio station.

Veraguas is the third province in the country with the most cases of coronavirus: 856 until this Thursday, June 11. The province of Panama is in first place with 11,794 and Panama West in second with 3,339 cases.

Panama has a total of 18,586 accumulated cases; and 418 deaths from this virus.
