La Defensoría del Pueblo indicó que realiza monitoreos constantes en las estaciones de recepción para garantizar el respeto de los derechos humanos

2,141 migrants are at reception stations in Darien, 337 are children

Currently, a total of 2,141 migrants from more than 30 countries are kept at the migrant reception stations in the Darien province.

According to the Ombudsman's Office, of this total, 337 correspond to boys and girls who enter Panamanian territory, through different routes that connect with the communities of Bajo Chiquito, Lajas Blancas, San Vicente, Metetí and Canaan located in the Darien province.

Maribel Peña, regional director of the Defensoría said that the transit of migrants through these routes increases during the summer season in Panama.

The communities with the highest income of people of different nationals are Bajo Chiquito with 1,641, in Lajas Blancas 135 and San Vicente 313 immigrants.
