18 people called to trial for embezzlement in a helicopter rental case

A report from the Directorate of Investigation and Forensic Audit of the Comptroller's Office revealed the possible damage of $10 million for the rental of aircraft between 2010 and 2014.
The Public Ministry reported this Thursday that 18 people have been called to trial for crimes of embezzlement , in the case of helicopter rental through the defunct National Aid Program (PAN).

It is also requested to call a person to trial for corruption within this same investigation.

The request was made by the Anti-Corruption Discharge Prosecutor's Office during the development of a preliminary hearing.

This investigation was opened after a report from the Directorate of Investigation and Forensic Audit (DIAF), of the Comptroller General of the Republic, revealed the possible damage of $10 million for aircraft rental services between 2010 and 2014.

The anomaly is due to the fact that there is no proof that proves the provision of the service whose cost was approximately $3,000 an hour; In addition, the routes and flight hours do not comply with the records of the Civil Aeronautics Authority and there was also a breach of the Public Procurement Law.
